This section
is at the heart of the services we offer online to our members.
The online resources section contains a wealth of information
- research and background resources that you and your staff can
use to save time and effort!
Information
Papers
Information
papers are general-purpose documents that provide advice to members
with regard to specific topics or aspects of forum programs or
membership as well as the benefits that they enjoy.
A number of
these documents are in the nature of "how to use" specific
resources provided by the Forum as well as periodic indexes to
articles and reports published by the forum.
The
Philippine Business Leaders Brief Online
The
Philippine Business Leaders Brief is compiled
by a team of professional analysts and is designed to provide
an informed international perspective on recent events in the
Philippines and across the Asian region that may impact on local
and foreign business operations. Items are selected for inclusion
on the basis of their perceived relevance to the business community.
From the main page you may view this week's headline news and
access the latest articles sent to members.
From this
area of the site you can access the latest articles published
in the Leaders Brief.
Alternatively
you may wish to access the report archives and download specific
reports that may be missing from your collection.
Asia
Business Leaders Brief Online
The
Asia Business Leaders Brief provides an informed
international perspective on recent events across the Asian region
that may impact on local and foreign business operations. Items
are selected for inclusion on the basis of their perceived relevance
to the business community.
From this
page you may access past issues of the Asia Brief. Alternatively
you may use the Article Search
to find specific articles dealing with a country and/or topic.
Philippine
Business Guide
The
Philippines Business Guide provides a benchmark for people new
to the Philippines and who wish to have basic information at their
fingertips as to how to approach living, working or trading in
the country. The original guide was published in late 2002 and
the electronic version was updated in mid 2003. A major revision
is scheduled for late 2004 with a new print and electronic version
(CD) due out at the end of the year.
Outlook
Papers
The
secretariat publishes regular outlook papers on the Philippines
dealing with the macro-economy and the political situation. Our
advisory board as well as individual members also contribute papers
that can be found in this section.
Executive Briefs
Executive
briefs come in a number of forms. Often they are papers ("special
reports") prepared by our own research staff dealing with
specific political or economic issues or sector reviews. Often
such reports are prepared in association with our meeting program.
Our archive of such reports now extends back more than 3 years
providing members not only with current information but also with
a historical picture of how events and issues have unfolded in
recent times.
Another set
of executive briefs provide commentaries and insights on the current
situation in the Philippines written either by the secretariat
or submitted by members.
Corporate
Insights provide members with an informed perspective on how other
executives and their companies have approached the Philippines
and their business. From these, and over time, we will be able
to distill a set of best practice guidelines that will assist
members of the peer group forum share ideas relating to management
and corporate governance.
Presentations
You
do not come to Forum meetings to listen to us; but rather to hear
the views and opinions of our guest speakers and panelists. Nevertheless
we provide a range of presentational material, some of which is
well-known to "early birds" - those who show up early
for breakfast and can view the slide presentation running over
breakfast. We also maintain a master presentation that is updated
periodically. All of these presentations can be downloaded from
the website for later viewing and for use with your own clients
or staff. When our speakers provide their presentations to us,
these are also added to the library with their permission.
All presentations
are downloadable as PowerPoint presentations (PPS files).
Key
Indicators
Our
research staff and data processing team maintains more than 700
spreadsheets related to Philippines social and economic indicators.
All of these are available online in both chart form as well as
Excel worksheets. Our updating program goes through a periodic
cycle. However, members may request updating or extension of statistical
data from the secretariat.
Goodies
Life
is not all work! Sometimes we have things to share with our members
that are strictly for fun. Mostly (at the moment) this is in the
form of digital photo images that some of our members like to
use as screen savers as well as photo albums from our various
meetings. As and when we find suitable material, this will be
posted in the "Goodies" section of our website. One
member we suggested we also post after-dinner jokes but so far
the best ones we have seen (judged by the chuckle factor) are
not really suitable and we will leave these to be circulated privately!
Corporate
Search
Search
out more than 10,000 local businesses and organisations through
our online database. Members may use their password to amend and
update their own corporate record. Our webmaster will provide
details as to how this facility can be used.
Useful
Links
This
final section provides links to other websites that our research
staff consult on a regular basis should you find the need to search
further for information on the Philippines.
